Buying an affordable home

The properties for sale from Devon & Cornwall Housing Association are usually new homes, although second hand (resale) properties often come up for sale. With this scheme you buy an affordable share of the property's full value, normally between 25% and 75% initially, and pay a subsidised (lower than market) rent on the part you don't own. There is usually an option to buy more shares later on; this is called staircasing
