Some examples of major adaptations are:
- stair lift – internal or external
- through-floor lift
- converting bathroom to level access shower-room or wet room
- extension to provide downstairs bedroom and shower
- ramps.
Each of our teams has specialist expertise to help you.
Our technical officers can advise on how best to achieve the works, drawing up plans and schedules as required, obtaining all the necessary permissions and quotations and liaising with contractors once they are on site.
Our caseworkers will advise on the availability of disabled facilities grants, their eligibility criteria and conditions, and help you to make an application if you are eligible. They will help you complete all the paperwork, assist you to raise any extra funding which may be needed, and advise on any other services which might be of use to you.
If the work is being funded by a grant, the service is free. If you're able to pay for works yourself, we'll give you free advice or, for a fee, provide the whole technical and casework service.
