Welcome to Devon care & repair

How we help in the 8 districts of Devon

Devon care & repair provides advice, information and practical help with all aspects of enabling older and vulnerable people to remain independent in their own homes. This can range from putting up a grab rail to helping to find funding for a leaking roof. The service is especially for people over the age of 60 or for households where there is an adult or child with disabilities or special needs and is available to home owners and tenants.

First county-wide Home Improvement Agency
Our team in West DevonIn 2006 Devon care & repair became the first Home Improvement Agency in England to cover a whole county. We have a central support team and a local team in each of the 8 districts of Devon (Plymouth and Torbay have their own agencies). Each team has a technical officer, a handyperson, administrator, caseworker and manager and between them they can give advice on what work needs to be done, how to fund it, how to organise it and how to find reliable builders. The handyperson can turn his hand to all sorts of minor repair, maintenance and adaptation work.

The Devon service is commissioned by Devon Supporting People, in partnership with Devon County Council (Social Care Services), Devon Primary Care Trust and Devon's district councils.

Social Enterprise Works
Devon care & repair also offers services to organisations such as district councils and housing associations under the heading of “Social Enterprise”. These services include minor works and maintenance and major adaptation work. Social Enterprise services are also available to individuals who do not qualify for our core service. For further details contact Diane Aspinall on 01395 514790.
