Handyperson and maintenance

Help with everyday odd-jobs

The handyperson service is available to home owners and all tenants over the age of 60 or who have a disability. It is designed for minor repair and maintenance jobs. Some examples could be: Fixing a lock

  • fitting doorbells
  • replacing fuses and plugs
  • unblocking sinks, gullies and gutters
  • putting up curtains, shelves and pictures
  • moving small furniture
  • replacing small window panes
  • changing tap washers
  • renewing bath sealant
  • fitting door chains and locks
  • fitting smoke alarms.

This gives an idea of the sort of jobs handypersons undertake, but they are very versatile and will tackle most jobs that will take less than approximately two hours.

Definitely no job is too small for the handyperson service – even changing a lightbulb!

One of our HandypersonsThe handypersons are all employed by Devon care & repair and have a wide variety of professional experience in the building trades. They are all checked through the Criminal Records Bureau so a vulnerable person can use the service with confidence.

There is a low charge for the handyperson service which varies according to whether or not you are in receipt of a qualifying means-tested benefit. To find out about the current charges, any restrictions on the type of work we do, or to make an appointment, please contact your local team.
