Minor adaptations

Help to keep you safer at home

Rail to make steps saferDevon care & repair can help you to have minor adaptations put in your home.

Examples would be:

  • fitting handrails, stair-rails and grabrails
  • fitting portable/temporary ramps
  • door threshold removal
  • widening door frames and re-hanging doors
  • installing chair and bed raising systems
  • fitting wall-fixed shower seats
  • fitting floor-fixed toilet frames
  • installing keysafes
  • minor electrical works such as raising sockets
  • minor plumbing works such as fitting lever taps.

Some of the jobs may be carried out by our own handypersons, other larger jobs by contractors from our approved contractors' list. In either case we will give you a quotation and ensure that the work is done to a satisfactory standard.

We will also advise you whether it is possible to have a grant for the work. Social Services will fund works up to £1,000 to owner occupiers and tenants of private landlords, if eligible under Fair Access to Care Services (FACS).
