Getting heard
Opening a play area with balloons, face painting and candyfloss
Having suffered delays with the opening of the play area on their estate, Residents at Aspen Grove Fremington appealed to us to try and get it opened so that the young people could enjoy the facilities. We listened and after ensuring it was safe, opened the area with a fun event with balloons, face painting and candyfloss on Saturday 15 September. Graham Sherburn, Managing Director of Devon & Cornwall Housing Association says: “regrettably, the process of changing ownership from us to the council is taking longer than we originally thought, but the residents were perfectly justified in asking us to resolve the matter. We pride ourselves on having excellent arrangements for consulting with residents and acting on what they want and in this case agree with them that the potential transfer to the council should not stop the enjoyment of the facilities by the children on the estate. We have arranged this fun event to say thank you to residents for their patience and we are also refunding monies paid towards the upkeep of the play area.”
