Going green at the Eden Project

Over 120 residents and resident involvement housing staff from across Devon attend a 'Green is Great' event at the Eden Project

regg take to the stageThe Sustainable Living Project in partnership with the Devon Tenants' Forum and Devon Tenant Participation Group invited over 120 residents and resident involvement housing staff from across Devon to attend a 'Green is Great' event at the Eden Project.

The aim of the event was to encourage both residents and staff to work together to take green action at home and in the community and to promote the green message to their social landlord. Presentations included disseminating the findings from the Defra funded Sustainable Living Project, encouragement from the DCHA Residents' Environmental Green Group (REGG) to run green living events, information on fuel poverty and the warm zone project and amazing facts and figures on what Devon County are doing to reduce domestic waste sent to landfill and encourage reuse and recycling.

The Eden Project provided an vibrant back drop to the event and after a buffet lunch residents and staff had a couple of hours spare to explore the biodomes and soak up the green atmosphere. The day was organised to be as eco friendly as possible with the majority of residents and staff travelling to Eden by coach or car sharing.

A big thank you to all those that made the day a success and to all those residents and staff who travelled so far to attend the day. A report about the day detailing the results from the consultation can be downloaded from this page as can the powerpoint presentations.
