David Orr visit to south west

oak meadowDavid Orr, Chief Executive of the National Housing Federation recently spent two days in the south west touring the area, meeting residents and finding out about the range of services we provide. We took the opportunity to show him the major regeneration works we are involved with in Cornwall at Redruth, St Austell and the city hospital site Truro. David met board and regional committee members who explained how we involve residents in our governance and the ways we develop their involvement.

He was very interested in the way we had helped develop Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change and the innovative and detailed community development work the organisation carries out.

In Plymouth he saw the regeneration work at the east end of the city before going on to see what we are doing with Plymouth City Council and the Devonport Regeneration Company and our mixed tenure scheme at Gun Wharf.david orr enclave

Day two was spent at Oak Meadow South Molton, our award winning eco friendly scheme where he learnt about our DEFRA funded sustainable living project and how we are making our residents homes and our offices more environmentally friendly. David also listened to residents talking about their environmental green group and the residents website, www.regg.org.
