It's a palace

Developing new homes in Truro

City HospitalCouncillor Mike Cox, Chairman of Carrick District Council and his wife Ros, also a councillor took time to visit Emma White and her daughter Cheyenne in their new home on the old city hospital site, Truro.

Emma describes their new home as a palace. She says: " this is so different from where we were before,. My partner Ryan Curgenvan and I had been living in a cold and damp caravan for 5 years. When Cheyenne was born we went on the council list but had to wait for what seemed a lifetime before we were offered this house. It is absolutely brilliant and I cannot think of anyway it could be improved."

When finished the site will provide nearly 200 homes of which 98 will be affordable homes for rent or shared ownership purchase. The scheme was only made possible by the council buying the land and then simultaneously passing it on to Devon & Cornwall Housing. The affordable homes have been developed by DCHA, and will be managed by PHA's local office in Truro.
