The healthy living event was well attended at Holsworthy Community College & Sports Centre.
The highlight of the fun event was the opening by Heather Fell, olympic silver medallist in the modern pentathlon, Beijing.
Heather took time out to demonstrate her fencing skills, giving lots of encouragement to young local people.
Community Development Worker, Lesley Browne says, 'It was fantastic to see so many people of different generations mixing together and enjoying the activities on offer. Also, a real pleasure to see the children so keen to spend time here after school.'
'It was a great opportunity for support agencies to get a strong message across through social interaction. This was an excellent way to finish off this year's community events giving us lots of ideas and inspiration for next year.'
Many took part in the various healthy living sessions and entered a prize draw for their chance to win a top prize of a Wii console and fitness games pack. There were also 50 other prizes on offer and the results of the draw will be published shortly.
The activities included cheerleading, netball, fencing, kayaking, bowls, aerobics, salsa dancing and much more. Experts also provided mountain bike and fire safety demonstrations.
We sponsored this event in association with our community partners including North Devon Deaf Childrens Society, Early Years Centre, Homestart, St John's Ambulance, Princes Trust and Devon Youth Service.
