Welcoming Sir Bob Kerslake to Devonport
We recently welcomed the new Chief Executive Designate of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), Sir Bob Kerslake to Plymouth
Sir Bob’s visit included a tour illustrating the extensive work we are doing in Devonport in partnership with Plymouth City Council.
The tour featured visits to the award-winning scheme at Gun Wharf and the Vision site where regeneration of the old Devonport village, previously occupied by the Ministry of Defence as part of the dockyard, is currently being under-taken by the developers, Redrow. Our first extra care accommodation is being incorporated into this site, providing nursing facilities. This is in addition to a warden and communal areas currently available in our sheltered housing schemes, designed to meet the needs of older people and typically self-contained flats or bungalows.
Sir Bob also visited Ker Street where the next phase of regeneration work is taking place in Devonport starting with the demolition of blocks of former council flats known as the Bullring. More information is available on the Westco Properties website.
On visiting the Plymouth Foyer Sir Bob received a presentation from our partner organisation Penwith Housing Association (PHA) on their extensive community development work in and around social housing neighbourhoods in Cornwall working with Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C).
