Listening to our tenants...
The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) has just published a joint report with the Audit Commission called 'Tenant Involvement', and DCHA has been featured twice for good practice!
DCHA was included for our tenants day at Crealy Adventure Park. During the morning residents used electronic handsets to answer questions on subjects including their satisfaction with repairs and maintenance to help us set our priorities for the future.
Each household were given token money to spend on new services - the out of hours anti-social help line came out top - residents then had an opportunity to visit stands and talk with active tenants and community partners. At lunch time residents and staff were free to have lunch and visit the adventure park. The day proved a huge success one as over 50% of the households involved had never taken part in any consultation with us before.
The second case study involved consultation about the “financial inclusion specialist service” which had been created to help tenants access benefits, pay their rent and manage debt. Tenants told us they would prefer more resources to tackle antisocial behaviour and that actually, they weren't using the service very much. Funding from the service was subsequently redirected to a 24-hour antisocial behaviour advice line.
Group partners Tor and PHA are doing similar work to ensure we listen to our tenants and involve them in service improvement and development.
