Thanks to a successful funding bid to ScottishPower Energy Peoples’ Trust from April 2008 new residents moving into our homes in Plymouth will get face to face advice from Simon Holmes, about using their heating systems. The Plymouth Warm Start project will be run in partnership with Westcounty Energy and see the piloting of energy performance assessments of all our void Plymouth properties. This work will identify opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of these homes and those surrounding them and make sure the new householder gets the right advice.
The Project also includes plans to look at the installation of renewable energy systems like solar hot water in homes, energy efficiency advice to our shared ownership households, young residents and residents who are having new heating fitted. There is also a link with South West Pound so households at risk of debt or slipping into fuel poverty can get timely advice. Rose Hunter said “This is an excellent opportunity to help new residents get the best out of their home and learn how to reduce their environmental impact. With the rising cost of energy and water we need to make sure our houses are truly affordable and if this Project works we can try in other areas.”
Project updates will be posted here on a regular basis.
